Queen of the Damned
A centuries old vampire wakes up, becomes a rock star, and, in the process, awakens the most powerful and destructive vampire of all.
I’m not going to judge this movie based on the books. I believe movies and books are different mediums and one should not be judged against another. Sure, I liked the books, but I’m willing to judge this movie on it’s own merits, no matter how much it deviates from the source material.
Those who feel differently will want to stop reading now and just steer clear of this movie, as just about everything except the premise has been thrown out in this adaptation of Anne Rice’s third novel.
Okay now, for those of you open-minded enough to judge this movie, not by it’s adherence to the book upon which it was based, but rather on it’s own merits I say this: This is a bad movie.
Seriously. It’s god-awful.
The direction wavers between made-for-TV and rock video. The script is a joke, with painful dialog and copious amounts of voice-over narration that just seem to pull your finger toward the fast-forward button. With such a poor backing, it’s no wonder the performances are so bad.
Unless you’ve pushed an old lady down some stairs and feel the need to punish yourself, stay away from this movie.
